Born in Eichstätt, Germany but currently settled in the UK is a 47 year old artist SUSANNA BAUER who creates something different and elusive. An art that many would have never heard of. “Dry leaves Sculptures”.Which involves using dried leaves of the magnolia tree and tiny needles, small hooks, cotton yarn and crochet to create decorative leaf art and sculptures in a totally unconventional way.
The leaf works of SUSANNA BAUER are powerful examples of the interface between artist and nature. Many artists are inspired by nature and attempt to imitate what they see in the natural world. The art requires dedicated hands, a creative mind, precision eyes, and a lot of patience as the leaves have their own limitations. Her art is put up for sale in many art galleries and shows. Prices start at £ 160 for a small leaf with a simple crochet edge like Green (21 cm x 16.5 cm), a piece from the the Trans-Plant series is £ 425 (for a frame size of 38 cm x 38 cm),to a Cube Tree that is £ 900.
