Gregory Raymond Halili was born in the Philippines in 1975. He received his B.F.A. from the University of the Arts in Philadelphia. He resides in New Jersey. Inspired by the lush vegetation and tropical wildlife of the Philippines, he creates stunning bas-relief skulls delicately hand-carved and painted on mother of pearl shells.

Halili collected shells from the Philippines, carves these skulls into black- and gold-lipped Philippine mother-of-pearl shells and then paints with oil on raw, gold-lip and black-lip mother of pearl found in shells collected from the Philippines. The pieces will soon be exhibited at Silverlens Galleries in Manila and Nancy Hoffman Gallery in NYC.
