Multimedia artist Federico Uribe was born in Bogota, Colombia and lives and works in Miami. Federico is known for his creative style in transforming everyday objects into works of art. His everyday objects like colorful shoelaces, pencils, electric cables, pins and his latest medium is bullet shells . For one of his exhibitions, Federico used 1,500 pieces of footwear and 25,000 shoe laces to create a sculpture of animals, including a cow, a zebra and a swimming duck. Federico takes 10-12 hours every day to make theses outstanding sculptures.
Uribe studied art at the University of Los Andes in Bogota and in 1988 left for New York to study a master-of-fine-arts degree under the supervision of Luis Camnitzer.
